01. When performing tensile tests on plastic films and foils, if the test volume is large, it is best to choose a pneumatic tensile fixture. Manual fixtures are inconvenient, inefficient, and the gauge length is difficult to control.
02. When the specimens for tensile tests on plastic films and foils are straight strips, the elongation is generally measured using the displacement method. For some plastic films made into dumbbell shapes according to GB standards, the elongation can only be measured using non-contact measuring devices (such as infrared testing, laser testing, digital imaging, etc.).
03. A special cutter is required when preparing sample strips for films and foils.
04. Metal foils include copper foil, aluminum foil, gold foil, etc. The deformation is not very large, generally around 10%-60%, the load is relatively small, and the tensile stroke does not need to be too large. A film tensile testing machine with a capacity of 5.00N or less can be selected.
05. Plastic film: High elongation, some exceeding 800%, requiring a relatively long stroke; force is generally below 2kN.
06. Plastic film requires tensile and peel tests.
07. The gauge length (straight strips) for testing plastic film and foil materials is generally 100mm.
When selecting a film tensile testing machine, besides understanding the product's performance, failing to clearly define the testing purpose for your product can easily lead to spending money on a machine that doesn't meet your actual needs.
